Acting like a 2-year-old

I've said before that I'm not a good "waiter". I take a LONG time to make a decision, but once the decision is made, I want to go FULL-STEAM ahead. But God continues to teach me, that I have much to learn during the "waiting times."

I've been talking with my Heavenly Father about moving South for years. Before my sister got sick, I had thought maybe I was to move to Macon to be near her and my parents. However, I was in the midst of surgeries and procedures here, so moving at that time just didn't make sense.
Then after my sister died, Mom and Dad moved back to Florida. So, I continued praying about if and when I should move to Florida. However, God just didn't give me peace about it.

Then after my last surgery in April of 2013, and some of the decisions regarding my pain and what could be done.... God started to prepare me for moving. After discussing it with a dear friend, just to make sure I was thinking clearly, and more prayer, I knew that it was now time to move.

So, once that decision was made, I started working on where. Once that was decided, I then proceeded with the application process.... and waiting.
I want to move NOW.... yet, I know that I have many things to that need to be taken care of BEFORE I can move. God is allowing this waiting time, so that I can accomplish tasks at a "slower-rate" so that I can handle the increase in pain.

I know WHY I'm not moving THIS SECOND... but there is still part of me that wants to do it NOW. Sounds like a 2-year-old, I know... but that's how I feel.

I'm so thankful that God has a PERFECT plan and that He is working out all the specifics as to where the exact apartment will be, and the exact date of the move. My responsibility is to do what I can each day to prepare for the move and the save as much money as possible to pay for move and the expenses associated with the move.

I'm praying that I'll learn while "waiting" and that I won't rush ahead of God. For His timing is always the best. Very thankful that God is patient and knows that at times I act like a 2-year-old.... but He knows exactly how to handle a 2-year-old.... so I'm in very good hands.

While Waiting

This year, I'm sharing my "Treasures" of my study of my "Ponder the Morsels" book. I've picked 31 Psalms to study throughout 2013. Today I studied Psalm 43. Here is what I learned.

Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my [sad] countenance, and my God. Psalm 43:5 (AMP)

Why ·am I so sad [are you downcast, my soul]? Why ·am I so upset [are you groaning/in an uproar]? I ·should [or will] ·put my hope in [wait for] God and ·keep praising [or will again praise] him, my ·Savior [Victor] and my God. Psalm 43:5 (EXB)

"Hope in God," or "wait for God." There is need of patience, but there is ground for hope. The Lord cannot but avenge his own elect. The heavenly Father will not stand by and see his children trampled on for ever; as surely as the sun is in the heavens, light must arise for the people of God, though for awhile they may walk in darkness. Why, then, should we not be encouraged, and lift up our head with comfortable hope? "For I shall yet praise him." Times of complaint will soon end, and seasons of praise will begin. Come, my heart, look out of the window, borrow the telescopic glass, forecast a little, and sweeten thy chamber with sprigs of the sweet herb of hope. "Who is the health of my countenance, and my God." My God will clear the furrows from my brow, and the tear marks from my cheek; therefore will I lift up my head and smile in the face of the storm. The Psalm has a blessed ending, such as we would fain imitate when death puts an end to our mortal existence. Treasury of David
Wait (v)
1. to remain inactive or in a state of repose, as until something expected happens
2. (of things) to be available or in readiness.
3. to remain neglected for a time.
4. to postpone or delay something or to be postponed or delayed.
5. to look forward to eagerly.

I find the definition of “wait” interesting. Remain in active until something expected happens. Yet, it also means look forward to eagerly. and in the middle.... remain neglected for a time.

Yet, each aspect of the definition describes and “end” to the wait. It’s not an eternity.... although sometimes the wait can seem like that.

Often as I’m in waiting mode, my focus changes from God and what He is doing to what can I do to hurry things along! I’m not a good waiter, as I’ve said before. But I’m trying to not waste the waiting time. One of the definitions for wait, says to remain inactive. As I read that I thought two things: 1) what a waste of time, I can get so much done! 2) Be Still and know that I am God.

How many times during the waiting times, am I trying to hurry God along, or figure things out on my own, or get so busy doing things so I lose focus on the “waiting on God and being still getting to know God”?

To create a positive day, I need to remember that while waiting, I need to be still and get to know my God better!

VICTORY LANE

This year, I'm sharing my "Treasures" of my study of my "Ponder the Morsels" book. I've picked 31 Psalms to study throughout 2013. Today I studied Psalm 146. Here is what I learned.

Do not put your ·trust [confidence] in princes or other people, who cannot ·save you [give you victory].
Happy [Blessed] are those who are helped by the God of Jacob [another name for Israel]. Their hope is in the Lord their God.  Psalm 146:3, 5 (EXB)

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no help. Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is he who has the God of [special revelation to] Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God. Psalm 146: 3, 5 (AMP)

I won tickets to the Chicagoland Speedway for the weekend. Today, I arrived at the track early, to pick up the tickets and enjoy watching the trucks practice. Those were MY plans!

Had a great trip to the Track, including meeting some nice people at Dunkin’ Donuts! I arrived at the track and parked in the most perfect spot. Big different between Truck race days, and Nationwide and Sprint Cup days. Not many people attend the Truck races.
I went to the Will Call booth to pick up the tickets. However, they could not find the tickets. I called the contact person who told me I won.... she was in a meeting.
So, I slowly returned to the car to wait. Met some nice people along the way. I reclined in the car and read Psalm 146. As I read verses 3 and 5... I laughed.

Do not put your trust in man.........there is no help. Happy is the man who is helped by God. As I reclined in the car, I simply smiled. As humans, we make mistakes, and there are those who we know cannot be trusted. But God is a constant and never changes. He is steadfast and sure.

As I looked up from reading Psalms, I noticed the “Lost and Found” sign waving nearby. I laughed out loud. Yes, the tickets were LOST, and there was nothing I could do to find them. I had to wait.

About an hour later, I received a phone call, that the Representative would meet me at Will Call. I arrived and was given my tickets.

Why did God have me wait and miss some of the truck practice? Not sure exactly why, but I did learn that even when I carefully plan my day, God can change it to make it fit His plan. During that waiting time, I was able to talk with some EMTs and other people so, the time was not wasted. Plus, the wait allowed me time to let my pain level lower from the ride to the track.

To create a positive day, I need to not trust in man..... rather keep my trust and hope in God, for He will provide the real VICTORY..... or to put it racing lingo—I’ll be in VICTORY LANE!

Wait

This year, I'm sharing my "Treasures" of my study of my "Ponder the Morsels" book. I've picked 31 Psalms to study throughout 2013. Today I studied Psalm 27. Here is what I learned.

·Wait for [Hope in] the Lord’s help. Be strong and let your heart be brave, and ·wait for [hope in] the Lord’s help. Psalm 27:14 (EXB)

Stay with God! Take heart. Don’t quit. I’ll say it again: Stay with God. Psalm 27:14 (MSG)

Please answer me: Don’t give up. Wait for the Eternal in expectation, and be strong. Again, wait for the Eternal. Psalm 27:14 (VOICE)

Wait, I say, on the Lord; this is repeated, to express the importance of this duty, and to encourage to it. Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

Wait on the Lord - This is the sum of all the instruction in the psalm; the main lesson which the psalm is designed to convey. The object is to induce others, from the experience of the psalmist, to trust in the Lord; to rely upon Him; to come to Him in trouble and danger; to wait for His interposition when all other resources fail.
Wait, I say, on the Lord - Repeating an idea with which the heart was full; a lesson resulting from his own rich experience. He dwells upon it as a lesson which he would fix deeply in the mind, that in all times of danger and difficulty, instead of despondency, instead of sinking down in despair, instead of giving up all effort, we should go forward in the discharge of duty, putting our trust solely in the Lord. Barnes' Notes on the Bible

When something is worth repeating.... it’s worth paying attention to, and worth doing. Wait on the Lord. No matter the circumstances you may find yourself, wait on the Lord. If you are seeking answers, wait on the Lord. If you want to know what direction to go, wait on the Lord.

Wait on the Lord. Don’t move ahead without Him. Wait on the Lord, trust in Him and what He is doing.

To create a positive day, I need to wait on the Lord and that means fully trusting in what He is doing, where He is leading, and His timing for it all.

Shut Up!

This year, I'm sharing my "Treasures" of my study of my "Ponder the Morsels" book. I've picked 31 Psalms to study throughout 2013. Today I studied Psalm 62. Here is what I learned.

My soul, wait only upon God and silently submit to Him; for my hope and expectation are from Him. Psalm 62:5 (AMP)

God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I hope for comes from him, so why not? Psalm 62:5 (MSG)

I ·find rest [wait quietly] in God; ·only he gives me hope [for my hope is in him]. Psalm 62:5 (EXB)

Wait: be still (opposed to both speech and motion); be silent, hold peace, quiet self, rest, keep (put to) silence.

Wait, to put it in one term, “Shut Up!”

Be still silent, O my soul! submit thyself completely, trust immovably, wait patiently. Let none of thy enemies' imaginings, consultings, flatteries, or maledictions cause thee to break the King's peace. Unmingled faith is undismayed. The Treasury of David

One definition of “wait” is to be available or in readiness. If I’m in a constant state of motion and noise (talking), than I am not available or in readiness. For, if I’m talking, I can’t hear the instructions from God!

I’ve never really enjoyed silence. I like to have the radio on, or CDs playing, or the TV on... just for noise. Yet, in the silence I hear subtle sounds which I miss amidst the noise. If I really want to know what God wants me to do.... I need to “shut up” and listen!

I’ve noticed that often when I’m nervous, I tend to talk, often faster and louder. Yet, God wants to give me peace, and that comes as I WAIT... yes, “shut up” just be still.

Only when I “Shut Up”, will I be able to find peace and know what God wants me to do next. Trust in God, and what He is doing and stop making noises that are just jibber-jabber.

To create a positive day, I need to “shut up” and listen to God, for then and only then will I enjoy the peace that calms my soul.

He’s Got It!

This year, I'm sharing my "Treasures" of my study of my "Ponder the Morsels" book. I've picked 31 Psalms to study throughout 2013. Today I studied Psalm 62. Here is what I learned.

I am not a good “waiter”. Once I make a decision, I like to do things immediately. However, I am continually learning that waiting often has a better outcome. David, discusses waiting in Psalm 62:1. But he want not just “twiddling his thumbs” so to speak. David was resting in and observing God.

I wait patiently for God to save me; I depend on him alone. Psalm 62:! (GNT)

God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as he says. Psalm 62:1 (MSG)

My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. Psalm 62:1 (NSAB)

My soul is quiet and waits for God alone. He is the One Who saves me. Psalm 62:1 (NLV)

Soul: living being, life, self, person, desire, passion, appetite, emotion
Is silent: resting, expecting, reflecting, solicitous, and observing.
God: “Elohim” very great, mighty
Only: surely, no doubt, certainly, even, howbeit, nevertheless
Salvation: deliverance, health, helping, saving health, welfare

Usually when I have to wait, I like to keep busy. Often the things I keep busy with, are minimal or trivial things. You could say that I like to keep occupied. But Psalm 62:1 teaches me that if I turn my attention to God, who I trust for my eternal salvation, my soul will then be able to rest in silence as I trust Him.

Being silent. Still. Having the confidence that God does not need my in put, I don’t need to “do it myself”, I don’t need to be busy, simply stop and relax knowing that God Almighty has everything in control—He’s got it!
Waiting is nothing else
but hope and trust lengthened.
John Trapp
WOW! ... hope and trust lengthened. The more I am silent, wait upon God, my hope and trust in God will continue to grow.

Be still, relax, wait with assurance, without any doubt that God Almighty has it all in control—He’s got it!

To create a positive day, I need take a step back and be still and silent place my confidence in God knowing full-well that He’s got it all under control
