My 2 Cents!

This year, I'm sharing my "Treasures" of my study of my "Ponder the Morsels" book. I've picked 31 Psalms to study throughout 2013. Today I studied Psalm 100. Here is what I learned.

Since the most recent back surgery, I’ve been dealing with a new pain in the back. My doctors are working on finding the cause and how to treat it. Until then, I am in waiting mode. This morning, I woke up and began to give God my 2 cents on how He could alleviate the pain, or at least make it a bit more comfortable for me. Then I read Psalm 100:5.

Because the Eternal is good, His loyal love and mercy will never end, and His truth will last throughout all generations. Psalm 100:5 (VOICE)

The Lord is good. His ·love [loyalty] is forever, and his ·loyalty [faithfulness] ·goes on and on [for all generations]. Psalm 100:5 (EXB)

"His mercy is everlasting." God is not mere justice, stern and cold; he has bowels of compassion, and wills not the sinner's death. Towards his own people mercy is still more conspicuously displayed; it has been theirs from all eternity, and shall be theirs world without end. Everlasting mercy is a glorious theme for sacred song. "And his truth endureth to all generations." No fickle being is he, promising and forgetting. He has entered into covenant with his people, and he will never revoke it, nor alter the thing that has gone out of his lips. As our fathers found him faithful, so will our sons, and their seed for ever. A changeable God would be a terror to the righteous, they would have no sure anchorage, and amid a changing world they would be driven to and fro in perpetual fear of shipwreck. It were well if the truth of divine faithfulness were more fully remembered by some theologians; it would overturn their belief in the final fall of believers, and teach them a more consolatory system. Our heart leaps for Joy as we bow before One who has never broken his word or changed his purpose. The Treasury of David

"Our heart leaps for Joy as we bow before One who has never broken his word or changed his purpose." The Treasury of David

I often try to tell God what He should be doing, like He really needs my 2¢! He not only knows the past, but if fully aware of the future. He has a specific purpose for me, and really does not need my advice on how to accomplish His purpose.  But I still want to give my 2 cents.

Later this morning, I went upstairs to put the laundry in the washer, and opened the dryers to air them out. I found 2¢ in one of the dyers. I laughed. I think it was God telling me, "Thanks for your advise... but honestly Rhonda, you can keep your 2 cents."

To create a positive day, I need to step back and let God work, and remember, that He does not need my 2 Cents!

God continues to supply

I'm continuing the Bible Study based on Damaris Carbaugh's Not Ashamed CD. This week the study is based on the song, "At the Name of Jesus". One of the questions asks, "What is the most precious name of Jesus to you?"

As I was thinking of which name is most precious to me, I decided to expand the question to include: "Which name of God is most precious to me?" As I was studying the names of God, I received a devotional from In Touch Ministries.

"God is called by a variety of names in the Bible, and each one sheds light on an aspect of His nature. Jesus’ favorite title for Him was Father. Many of God’s names speak of His majestic and lofty attributes that separate Him from mankind, but Father conveys intimacy. Jesus used this name not only because He was God’s Son, but also to help people realize that Jehovah isn’t some unapproachable Deity gazing down on them from a distance. Rather, He is their loving heavenly Father, who cares about them and wants to be involved in their everyday lives."(http://www.intouch.org/magazine/daily-devotional)
"He is their loving heavenly Father,
who cares about them and
wants to be involved
in their everyday lives."
That statement was demonstrated to me this week.

I lost my laundry card. Have no idea where. I've searched everywhere. Yet, the card was not to be found. I was mad at myself, because not only did I have money on the card, it was going to cost me more money to replace it. I looked for the card for 5 days, and couldn't wait any longer—the laundry was piling up.
Today, I went to buy a new card and put money on it. On the way to the office I checked my mail. In the mail was a note with a gift from a friend. The gift would help me fill the new card. When I arrived at the office, to buy the new laundry card, the manager greeted me. I explained the situation and she promptly handed me a new card—no charge.

Wow! Even though I did something "dumb"—losing my laundry card—God demonstrated His Fatherly love and took care of the details of supplying a new card. He didn't yell at me for losing the card. He didn't punish me for misplacing the card. He simply, in His kind and loving way, helped me get a new one so that I could do laundry.

God, my Father.
I like the sound of that.
I also like the meaning of that!

God is MY Father who cares about me and WANTS to be involved in my everyday life. That includes the little details such as a laundry card. (God used the laundry card a few months ago to show me He's concerned with the tiniest details of my life. You can read about that here: Relax, I'm taking care of it...Rather YOU!)

Even when things seem to be going wrong, creating a positive day is possible, when I realize that God, my Father, is involved in each and every detail of my day and life.
There is NOTHING happening in my life
which God isn't aware.
God, my Father, loves me!

Relax, I'm taking care of it...Rather YOU!

The move OUT is TODAY!
The gang will be here at 2:00.

Last night I was doing laundry and packing the last few odds and ends, and figured I'd do some laundry. I loaded up the cart with the basket and headed to the laundry room. The laundry room wasn't very busy, which means I could get mine done. I put in the 2 loads and headed back my apartment.
Decided it was time for a much needed rest. As I was reclining, there was a knock at the door. I slowly made my way to the door and opened it. It was young couple, whom I didn't know. The man then said, "I found this, and it as your name and address on it." Then he handed me my laundry card! "THANK YOU so very much!" I didn't even realize I had dropped it!

Why is that card so vital? In order to use the washers or dryers, you need the card. The card is loaded with money, and each time you wash, or dry, it subtracts the amount. Without the card—can't do laundry! And on top of that, I had just put over $30 on the card!!! There are even more details here: The Office was closed. So, there would have been no way to get a new card last night and I would have had 2 loads of WET laundry!

As I closed the door and made my way back to the recliner. I realized that once again God was demonstrating not only that He loves me—but
HE is taking care of things....
rather He is taking care of ME.

Yes, it was only a laundry card. But you see, God is concerned with each detail in my life. If you've read some of my recent posts, you've seen God's attention to detail.
It doesn't matter if it's a laundry card with $30 on it. Or a $200 trailer. Or a $1700 daybed and mattress to help lower my pain during the day. The price of something doesn't matter to God. Rather, I matter. God isn't JUST taking care of things—He's taking care of ME!

When I keep my focus on God, He takes care of the details. My responsibility is to glorify God each day. Whether it's doing laundry, packing odds and ends, or just relaxing, I'm to be doing ALL to the glory of God. A positive day is not about what I've accomplished, or how low my pain level is, or what I did or bought.
Rather a positive day is only created
if I've glorified God.
